our story

Our story begins in the fast-paced world of Michelin-starred kitchens, where long hours and relentless service often left little time for a proper meal. Amidst the whirlwind of high-pressure cooking, the real comfort came from those quiet moments after the rush—when we’d retreat to the local bodega that knew us by name and order.

For years, my routine included a stop at my corner deli, where a familiar sandwich was always ready. My devotion to this bodega grew beyond convenience—I saw it as the heartbeat of NYC communities.

Four men sitting on stairs in front of a white door, with one holding a cigarette, showing hand gestures, and smiling.

This was something that stuck with me throughout my career and has now evolved into a brick and mortar called Brown Bag Sandwich Co. We created a chopped sandwich menu that pays homage to all of the NYC deli’s that came before us. We focus on house-made meats to ensure that our product is quality, consistent, and accessible. We’re not your average corner store.
